This page exists so you can judge whether to trust what you read here. It describes what we check, what we do not, and what happens when we get something wrong.
1. Sourcing
Facts about licences, minimum driver age, deposits, insurance excess, cross-border rules and permits are taken from primary sources: the supplier own rental terms, the booking platform terms, and the relevant national transport or police authority. Where a rule is ambiguous or differs between suppliers, the guide says so rather than picking the tidier answer.
2. Prices
Prices in our guides are observed prices. Each one states the currency and the conditions it applies to, and the guide carries the date on which it was written or last updated. We re-check prices in high-traffic guides at least twice a year. A price older than 12 months is either refreshed or removed.
3. Recommendations
A supplier is recommended on the basis of price transparency, deposit policy, cancellation terms, counter experience as reported by users, and availability at the destination. Affiliate commission plays no part in the ranking. Where the best option for the reader earns us nothing — public transport, booking direct, a non-partner supplier — the guide names it.
4. Balance
A guide that only praises is not useful. Ours are expected to say what is not worth the money, when it is better to book directly with the attraction, and what the real problems are at a destination: over-tourism, taxi scams, safety, seasonal closures.
5. Updates and corrections
- Every article shows a publication date and a last-updated date.
- Substantive corrections are noted at the foot of the article, with the date and what changed. We do not silently rewrite.
- Report an error to contact@trawellogy.com. Corrections are prioritised over everything else in the inbox.
6. Independence
No advertiser or affiliate partner reviews content before publication, and none can buy coverage, placement or a rating. Funding is explained in full in our Affiliate Disclosure.
7. Use of AI tools
Research, drafting and editing tools may be used in production, but every guide is planned, fact-checked, edited and signed off by the named editor responsible for that region, who is accountable for its accuracy. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated text.
8. Retirement of content
Guides that no longer meet this standard — outdated, thin, or superseded by a better guide — are removed or merged into the guide that replaces them, rather than left online to pad the archive.
